The project
Name: Promotion of children rights and democracy among the marginalized communities in Northern part of Gaza Strip
Rights and democracy well-known to protect ourselves
Main objectives: Recreational activities focusing on non-violent models and gender issues
Objectives:1.To promote the knowledge, awareness and the relevance of democratic participation and social inclusion within the community; 2.To improve knowledge and capabilities of stakeholders to identify the social exclusion’s causes to support the promotion of democratic participation and fundamental rights; 3. To improve the serious condition of poor and marginalised children promoting educational activities about peace, no-violence, gender issues and helping them to protect their own rights; 4. To promote the educational and social inclusion of disadvantaged children increasing access to the CRC of children, and promoting their own initiatives and their active participation; 5.To give opportunity for the children to become conscience keepers of the community on participatory democracy and child rights issues in order to become powerful advocates for change; 6.To help the children to get organised and to protect their own rights in spite of the insensitive environment around them.
Expected results: 1. Sensitive environment (CRC) strengthened in order to help children to organise themselves to protect and demand their own rights; 2. Around 5,000 children in streets of the poorest areas of northern Gaza Strip will take part to play bus activity; 3. 300 children of CRC will have the chance to benefit of recreational activities focusing on democracy, human rights and peace; 4. (40) children will benefit from remedial classes; 5. (300) children's parents will be made awaken on participatory democracy, fundamental rights and will be involved in special events; 6. (25) educators from R.E.C. (2 play bus operators and 2 teachers/educators) and schools and community based organizations.
Activities:
Activity 0: managemenT coordination AND
EVALUATION ACTIVITIES: will ensure the overall technical and financial management of the project; the coordination of activities with stakeholders, ensure monitoring and evaluation
activities, introductory workshop on the project and PAI objectives and activities and closing workshop to disseminate the results and lessons learned.
Activity 1: TRAINING ACTIVITIES: intends to continue the empowerment work with educators of REC, schools and community-based organizations. Training courses, focusing on activities related to Human Rights, Peace, non Violence and gender issues will be carried out, in order to improve the skills of play bus animators and Children Rights Center Educators. The objectives of the training will be based on items related of children participation, democracy, and resolution of conflict: starting from the experience and lessons learned of REC educators, involved in recreational activities since many years, the training course aims to enhance their interventions in the schools, in the Child Right Center.
Activity 2: ACTIVITIES PROMOTING CHILDREN’S RIGHTS AND PARTICIPATION: a) Educational and recreational activities for marginalised- children, focusing on Non-Violent models and Gender Issues within the Child Rights Center (CRC) established under a project funded by the European Commission. The centre consists of playrooms, classes and laboratories. The Centre has become a place suitable to welcome the children, to develop activities playing an active role to create a sensitive environment to help children to organize themselves to protect and demand their own rights. b)Playbus activities organized and carried out in public spaces (PLAYGROUNDS, PARKS AND GARDENS): The action intends to ensure the right to play for children of the municipalities of Jabalia, Gaza and Beitlahia. Through this project we intend to start the educational work also in public places as gardens and parks in order to let the children to retake possession of those public spots.
Activity 3: NETWORKING AND SENSITISATION ACTIVITIES: Activities to promote the awareness of families about children’s rights The action aims to support the whole social-educational dimension of the marginalized children of Gaza. So it is very important and significant to promote an active role of the family in the Palestinian society, and the participation of the parents in the educational growth of their children. Our goal is to involve children’s parents both in educational activities, parties and practical laboratories.
Target groups:
The staff of CFTA: 26 educators directly working with children teenagers and youth at CFTA's different projects will benefit from debriefing and supervision activities provided by
professionals.
Children between the ages of 6 to 12 from Khan Younis governorate
The project will target the children at devastating areas as well as children who are members of the creational centers of CFTA. Almost 3000 children will benefit from this project at the time of implementation.
All activities proposed within the frame of this project are aiming at providing psychological support to the community of the eastern areas of Khan Younis governorate
The teenagers at Bunat il Ghad center as well as other teenagers at devastated areas will be targeted.

- To strengthen the capacity building of REC and partner organizations to improve educational level of marginalized children by providing appropriate leadership, governance, and organization.
- To contribute to knowledge-led and improved decision making on issues of marginalized children particularly those with special needs and learning difficulties in northern Gaza Strip.
- To contribute in developing and reinforcing the abilities and talents of marginalized children.
- To contribute in improved awareness level of the community.
- To contribute to improved educational achievement of marginalized children at kindergartens and schools.
Activities:
1. Research on field in partnership with Educaid-Onlus and University of Bologna, Italy to investigate the role of the educative models in the Palestinian community (parents, teachers, educators), Especially analyzing their conception of childhood, participation and democracy.
2. Activities to promote awareness, knowledge and capabilities of stakeholders to identify the social exclusion’s causes to support the promotion of participatory democracy and fundamental rights.
3. Training courses for Play bus staff and Children Rights Centre educators and teachers
4. Support and development of the Children Rights Centre
5. Educational and recreational activities for marginalized- children, focusing on Non-Violent models and Gender Issues
6. Play bus activities organized and carried out in primary schools.
The work with the schools is organized on three main activities dealing with:
· “Ability Development”: the purpose is to empower the children attention, memory, behaviours. It is done through special materials built by the educators and animators;
· “Learning Difficulties”: according to the class attended by the children, the educators propose didactic matters (Math, Arabic etc..), using special techniques, educational games, dramas, puppet theatre, creation of fairy tales;
· “Creation and Free Play”: this is the most typical Play bus activities. The purpose is to break the rigidity and the formality of the Palestinian school system (almost military). Educators let the children play with wooden games, big balloons, hula hops, stilts, etc. Moreover animators organize group games, songs and dance, little shows of clownerie.

8. Activities to promote the awareness of families about children’s rights and democracy
The program aims to support the whole social-educational dimension of the marginalized children of Gaza. So is very important and significant to promote an active role of the family in the Palestinian society, and the participation of the parents in the educational growth of their children.
