The project
Name: Enhancing children’s rights though story telling in the Gaza Strip
Story Tellin as a tool to promote human rights
Main objectives: Story Telling
General Objective:
Tamer aims through this project at activating children’s libraries in the deprived areas in the Gaza Strip by providing non formal extracurricular activities to promote values of self expression and the advocacy for their rights as well as encouraging them to seek new and inventive ways of learning through storytelling.
Specific objectives:
- To allow children alternative mediums for learning and self expression.
- To enrich children’s knowledge in the subject of Palestinian folklore, culture and history through storytelling.
- To empower children to express themselves and to advocate for their rights according to UN’s Convention on the Rights of Children .
Target groups:
a. 240 Children aged from 6-12 from the Gaza Strip.
b. 20 Storytellers trained to working with the children in the field.
In order to support and to sustain community education in Palestine, Tamer directs its work towards young people and children to explore the undiscovered talents and allow them to develop, as well as allowing young children to see and to explore ways to find themselves and the ways they would like to contribute and to be a part of the Palestinian community.

Our vision is of a Palestine where children and young people can learn together, play together and develop together, sharing experiences and ideas and expressing themselves
creatively through writing, dialogue and art.
Our approach focuses on creating alternatives forms of learning outside the formal education system. We target children and young people in order to build up local capacity within the community that carries into the long term. Respect for the human being and nature are an integral part of our learning initiatives, and are a necessary dynamic in creating a Palestinian productive society that respects human rights.
Our activities fall under three main programs:
- Promotion of reading and expressive arts.
- Youth Empowerment.
Children’s literature program.
Target groups of the
organization
Children and young people in the Palestinian occupied territories, their number ranging around 100,000
beneficiaries.
